BeWell @ Stanford Employee Incentive Program Overview

Welcome to the 2009 BeWell @ Stanford Employee Incentive Program! As a benefits-eligible University employee you can take advantage of the annual rewards, new wellness activities and incentives on our new easy to navigate web interface. This year there is an opportunity to earn up to $250 (taxable) in wellness rewards.

The University continues to support and endorse a culture of wellness by sponsoring these opportunities for employees to enrich their health and wellness. This program is a collaboration among the Stanford Health Improvement Program (HIP), the Department of Athletics, Physical Education and Recreation (DAPER), Stanford Human Resources and YOU! Before you get started, you may want to review the BeWell @ Stanford Incentive Program FAQ.

This year’s program continues with the three step process. If you participated in 2008 we invite you to join us again. If you are new to Stanford or didn’t participate last year this is a great time to take charge of your wellness.

Step 1
Take 20 minutes to complete the Stanford Health and Lifestyle Assessment (SHALA) to assess the health of your current lifestyle. You'll get personalized reports to find out how you're doing and what you can do to keep yourself healthy and happy. You can also see a comparison from your previous reports. All your answers will be kept strictly private and confidential, and all benefits eligible University employees who complete the SHALA will receive a $150 (taxable) wellness reward that will be processed monthly and will be included in a regular paycheck under the line item "Wellness".

Step 2
Create a personalized wellness plan on-line. Using the information you gained from the SHALA this plan will enable you to develop goals and strategies for reaching a heightened state of wellness. Once you complete your wellness plan, as a benefits-eligible University employee, you can take advantage of the free and reduced priced wellness services and programs in Step 3.

Step 3
Take Action! Complete AT LEAST 5 of the 8 “BeWell Berry” activities and receive an additional $100 (taxable) wellness reward. These activities are a mixture of individual, group and self report events. Your annual $100 (taxable) wellness reward will be processed in the month that you complete the activities and will be included in a regular paycheck under line item “wellness”.

1.  FREE 30 minute Fitness Assessment that will evaluate blood pressure, heart rate response to aerobic exercise, strength, flexibility and body composition.
