Changing Your Lifestyle

Some people may realize, as they work through this program, that their lifestyle is contributing directly to their level of stress. For example, if you are trying to be perfect at work and at home, skipping lunch, committing every minute of your day, and working late into the night, you are bound to feel a high level of stress.

If you are over-committed, there’s no program in the world that can protect you from high levels of stress. For most people, it simply is not possible to keep up such a fast pace for long periods of time without suffering ill effects.

Take a good look at your life and see where you can adjust it. Slow yourself down! Just because new technologies allow the workplace to function at the speed of light doesn't mean you have to keep up that pace after you leave work.

How to slow down... Remember, it’s vitally important to have balance in your life: to leave time for yourself, to have fun, to have “down” time, to relax with friends or family, to exercise, to develop new and satisfying interests. If you can allow yourself to do these things, much of your stress will be greatly reduced.
